Scouting Serves the Jewish Community

PHILMONT TRAINING CENTER

Philmont Scout Ranch
June 21-27, 2009

An exciting seminar titled "Scouting Serves the Jewish Community" will be held at the Philmont Training Center, Cimarron, NM in 2009.

Philmont Scout Ranch is a wonderful place for Scouts and Scouters and the whole family to participate in an exciting program on various areas of Scouting for the Jewish faith.

The conference is designed to answer your questions and concerns in Jewish Scouting, and is staffed by Scouters who are qualified and active in local, regional and national levels of Scouting. The conference is helpful for both Synagogues and community centers concerned about young people in their area. The Philmont Scout Ranch has programs for families and Scouts during the seminar.

Among the subjects covered are: Starting and Strengthening a Council's Jewish Committee; Organizing a Jewish Troop, Pack or Post; Planning a Program; Organizing and Running a Jewish Kinnus; Promoting the Jewish Scouting Awards Programs, Serving Jewish Scouts in Non-Jewish Units; Getting your Local Religious Organization Involved in Scouting; Recruiting Leaders and Developing a Troop: and Scouting in Orthodox, Conservative and Reform Units. Case studies of problems facing Jews and Jewish Scouting plus other topics of interest will also be discussed.
