Silver Buffalo

RABBI DR. PETER E. HYMAN of Broomall, PA, National Chaplain of the NJCoS and Immediate Past Chair of the NJCoS has been selected to receive the Silver Buffalo Award for outstanding service to youth on a national level.

Peter earned his Eagle at Troop 49 of West Hartford, CT. He also earned the Ner Tamid.  He was awarded the Silver Beaver in 1989 and the Silver Antelope in 2001.  He was awarded the Vigil Honor of OA in 1987 and presented a Shofar in 1984.  He has attended and served at the National and World Jamborees over the past thirty (30) years including service as Chairman of the Chaplain Service at the 2005 Jamboree.

He graduated from Morris Harvey College in Charleston, WV with a B.A. in Philosophy.  He earned a Master of Arts in Hebrew Letters and was awarded his SMECHA (Rabbinic Ordination) from Hebrew Union College in Cincinnati, OH.  He was later awarded a Doctor of Hebrew Letters from HUC.

He is currently serving as Senior Rabbi at Temple Shalom (Reform) of Broomall, PA. He is married to Susan.  Their sons are both Eagle Scouts.

His Silver Buffalo was presented at the National Annual Meeting at the Wardman Park Marriott, Washington, DC.
